How to Draw a Sleeping Unicorn

Draw a sleeping unicorn in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.

Step 1: The head
On the left of your paper, draw a big rounded head, a little narrower at the bottom.
Tip Leave room on the right for the body, and below for the cloud.
Step 2: Horn and ears
On top, draw a tall pointed horn with 2 stripes. Add a leaf ear each side, a small leaf inside.
Step 3: Sleepy eyes
Halfway down the head, draw 2 closed eyes, each a U shape like a little smile.
Tip Closed eyes show the unicorn is fast asleep.
Step 4: Nose and smile
Over the bottom of the head, draw a wide oval nose. Inside it, draw a curved smile.
Step 5: Flop of hair
From the bottom of the horn, sweep a flop of hair over to the right side of the head.
Step 6: Curled-up body
Start behind the head. Draw one long curve over the back, round the bottom, and flat along underneath.
Tip The back is one big hill from head to bottom.
Step 7: Folded front leg
Under the chin, draw a long leg lying flat, narrow at the front, with a hoof tucked back.
Step 8: Tucked back leg
From the back, draw a curve down for the thigh. Under it, draw a short leg and a hoof.
Tip A resting horse folds its legs under its body.
Step 9: Mane and tail
Draw a wavy mane hanging down behind the head. Draw a long wavy tail hanging from the bottom.
Step 10: Fluffy cloud
Draw big round cloud bumps out from each side of the unicorn and all the way underneath.
Tip The cloud is the unicorn's bed, so make it wider than the unicorn.
Step 11: Zzz
Above the back, draw 3 Zs floating up, each one bigger than the last.
Step 12: Yellow and pink
Colour the horn and hooves yellow. Colour the flop of hair, ear middles and 2 round cheeks pink.
Step 13: Purple mane and tail
Colour the mane and the tail purple. Leave the unicorn white.
Step 14: Blue cloud
Go over your lines. Colour the cloud light blue, around the unicorn.
