How to Draw a Rainbow Unicorn

Step 1: Peanut head

Near the top left, draw a fat peanut head: a big round cheek behind, a smaller round nose in front.

Tip Leave lots of room on the right for the body.

Step 2: Eye and nose

On the big round part, draw one big oval eye with a black dot. Add a nostril and a smile.

Tip Only one eye: we see the unicorn from the side.

Step 3: Horn and ears

On the forehead, draw a tall pointy horn with 3 curves across it. Add a leaf ear and floppy hair.

Tip A smaller leaf goes inside the ear. A second ear peeks out behind.

Step 4: The neck

Start behind the head and draw the neck down to the right. From the jaw, draw the front down.

Tip The neck is wider at the body than at the head.

Step 5: Bean body

Start at the bottom of the neck. Draw a big soft bean: long back, round bottom, up to the neck.

Tip Join the bean to both neck lines.

Step 6: Rainbow mane

Start behind the ears and draw 4 pointy locks of hair down the neck. Stop at the back.

Tip Start each lock at the tip of the one above.

Step 7: Two legs

Draw a ground line. From the chest, draw a front leg down to the ground, then a back leg.

Tip A hoof is a little doorstop with a line across its top.

Step 8: Far legs

Behind the front leg, draw another leg from the tummy to the ground. Add one by the back leg.

Tip Far legs are a bit thinner. Only draw what you can see.

Step 9: Flowing tail

Start on top of the bottom. Draw a big tail down to a point near the ground, then back up.

Tip Thick where it grows, pointed at the tip.

Step 10: Colour it white

Go over your lines. Colour the head, neck, body and legs white.

Tip Leave the eye white.

Step 11: Yellow and sky

Colour the horn, the 4 hooves and the bottom lock yellow. Colour the lock above it sky blue.

Step 12: Pink locks

Colour the top lock, the hair on the forehead and the ear insides pink.

Step 13: Purple lock and tail

Colour the lock under the pink one and the tail purple. Your unicorn is done!
