How to Draw a Santa Running

Draw a Santa running in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: egg head.

Step 1: Egg head
Near the top, a little right of the middle, draw an egg head tipping forward.
Tip Leave room on the left for the flying hat tail.
Step 2: The face
On the right half of the head draw 2 oval eyes with black dots and a round nose.
Tip Santa looks where he is running, so the face sits to the right.
Step 3: Flying hat
Draw a long fur band across the head. Above it draw the hat, its tail flying back to a pom-pom.
Tip Rub out the top of the head inside the hat and band.
Step 4: Beard and moustache
Under the nose draw a curly moustache. Round the chin draw a big beard, its point flying back.
Tip Rub out the chin line inside the beard.
Step 5: Round coat
Under the beard draw a big round coat leaning forward. Add a line near the bottom for the fur trim.
Tip The coat is wider at the tummy than at the neck.
Step 6: Knee-up leg
From the front of the coat draw a leg forward to a bent knee, then down to a boot.
Tip This boot is in the air.
Step 7: Push-off leg
From the back of the coat draw a bent leg stretching back to a boot on tiptoe. Add the ground.
Step 8: Front-swing arm
From under the beard draw a sleeve forward to the elbow, then up to a fur cuff and a mitten.
Tip Rub out the coat line inside the sleeve.
Step 9: Belt and buckle
Draw 2 lines across the coat for a belt, stopping at the arm. Add a square buckle.
Step 10: Back-swing arm
From behind the back draw the other sleeve out to the elbow, then down to a cuff and a mitten.
Tip Opposite arm and leg go forward together when you run.
Step 11: Peach face, pink nose
Colour the face peach and the nose and cheek pink. Leave the eyes, beard and all the fur white.
Step 12: Red suit, gold buckle
Colour the buckle yellow. Colour the hat, the coat, both sleeves and both trouser legs red.
Step 13: Black belt and boots
Colour the belt, the 2 boots and the 2 mittens black. Your running Santa is done!
