How to Draw Santa Flying

Step 1: Santa's hat

Top right, draw a fat sausage fur band. From it draw a tall floppy hat, back to the band.

Tip The tip flops to the right. Add a round pom-pom on it.

Step 2: Santa's face

Start under the band's left end. Draw one big U face, stopping under the right end. Add 2 oval eyes.

Step 3: Nose, moustache and beard

Draw a button nose with a moustache each side. Draw a bumpy beard from one moustache, ending at the other.

Step 4: Sleigh and swirl

Under Santa, start low left. Sweep up to a front curl, along the seat, up the back, then down.

Tip Add a big swirl on the side, ending in a snail curl.

Step 5: Curly runner

Start under the sleigh's back. Draw a thick rail forward, curling up like an elf shoe, to the front curl.

Tip Join it to the body with 2 short posts.

Step 6: Coat and waving mitten

From the beard draw the coat sides down into the sleigh. From the right shoulder draw a sleeve bending up.

Tip Add a small fur cuff and a mitten with its thumb sticking out, waving hello.

Step 7: Sack of presents

Start on the rim left of the middle. Draw a big sack up and over, stopping on the rim again.

Tip Add a short neck on top, tied with a bow of 2 loops.

Step 8: Presents peeking out

Each side of the neck, start on the sack. Draw a present box up, across, and down to the sack.

Step 9: Clouds and stars

Below the sleigh draw 2 puffy clouds with round bumps on top. Add 3 little stars in the sky.

Step 10: Peach face, pink cheeks

Colour the face peach around 2 cheek spots and the nose, then colour those pink. Leave the eyes white.

Step 11: Gold and green

Colour the runner, posts, swirl, bow and 3 stars yellow. Colour the 2 presents green.

Step 12: Red sleigh and coat

Colour the sleigh red around the swirl. Colour the hat, coat, sleeve and mitten red, leaving the fur white.

Step 13: Brown sack

Colour the sack and its neck brown. Go over your lines. Off he flies!
