How to Draw a Girl Pirate

Step 1: Head and neck

Near the top, draw a big egg head. From the chin, draw 2 short neck lines, stopping a thumb below.

Tip Leave most of the page below for the body and legs.

Step 2: Bandana

Draw a bandana over the top of the head. Tie a knot on the left with 2 flappy tails.

Tip The bottom edge runs across the forehead, from side to side.

Step 3: Smiling face

On the right, draw 1 big oval eye with a black dot. Add a tiny nose and a smile.

Step 4: Eye patch

Where the other eye goes, draw a rounded patch. Add a strap from the bandana to the cheek.

Tip The strap hides behind the patch in the middle.

Step 5: Long hair

Under the bandana, draw long hair down each side of the face, flicking out at the shoulders.

Step 6: Striped shirt

From the left neck line, draw a short-sleeved shirt round to the right one. Rule 4 stripes across it.

Step 7: Arms and hands

From inside each sleeve, draw a softly bent arm down to a round mitten hand, and back up.

Tip Bump out a little thumb pointing in toward the body.

Step 8: Belt and skirt

Draw a belt with a square buckle. From its left corner, draw a flared skirt round to its right corner.

Step 9: Boots and ground

Draw 2 short legs under the skirt. Give each a boot with a folded cuff. Rule the ground.

Tip Point the toes out and keep the soles flat on the ground.

Step 10: Spyglass

From the right fist, draw a spyglass pointing up: a thin tube, a fatter tube and a rim on top.

Step 11: Peach skin

Go over your lines. Colour the face, neck, arms and legs peach, leaving the eye white.

Step 12: Red and yellow

Colour the bandana and 2 shirt stripes red. Colour the buckle and the spyglass yellow.

Step 13: Blue, brown, black

Colour the skirt blue. Colour the hair, belt and boots brown, and the eye patch black.
