14 steps · Medium · about 11 min

Draw catching snowflakes in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: tipped-back head.

Print

  1. Step 1: Tipped-back head

Draw a big round head, a little narrower at the bottom right, where the chin will be.

Tip Leave room above for a hat and below for the coat.

  2. Step 2: Eyes looking up

On the right half of the head draw 2 oval eyes, black dots near the top, and a tiny nose.

Tip Dots near the top of the eyes make the child look up at the sky.

  3. Step 3: Tongue out

Below the eyes, near the face's edge, draw a round mouth. Add a tongue sticking out past the face.

Tip Rub out the head line where the tongue crosses it.

  4. Step 4: Woolly hat

Draw a curved band across the forehead. Draw a tall dome from one end of the band to the other.

Tip Rub out the head line inside the hat.

  5. Step 5: Bobble

Draw a round bobble on the top of the hat.

  6. Step 6: Thick scarf

Under the head draw a fat curved scarf. Hang one end of it down the front.

  7. Step 7: Winter coat

Start under each end of the scarf. Draw the 2 sides of the coat curving out and down. Stop level.

  8. Step 8: Two sleeves

From each shoulder draw a sleeve going out and down, bending at the elbow.

Tip A sleeve is wide at the shoulder and narrower at the wrist.

  9. Step 9: Mittens

At the end of each sleeve draw a round mitten with a thumb sticking up.

  10. Step 10: Snowy ground

Start at the left and draw a gentle snow line across the bottom of the coat to the right side.

  11. Step 11: Snowflakes

Draw 3 snowflakes, each one 3 crossing lines. Put one just above the tongue.

  12. Step 12: Peach skin, pink tongue

Colour a pink cheek and the tongue pink. Colour the face peach. Leave the eyes white.

  13. Step 13: Yellow and red

Colour the hat band, bobble and scarf yellow. Colour the hat, the mittens and inside the mouth red.

  14. Step 14: Blue coat

Go over your lines. Colour the coat and both sleeves blue. Leave the snow white.
