How to Draw a Kawaii Owl

12 steps · Medium · about 9 min

Draw a kawaii owl in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: round body.

Print

  1. Step 1: Round body

Draw a big round dumpling that fills most of your paper, a little wider near the bottom.

Tip Head and body are one shape. That is the kawaii trick.

  2. Step 2: Round face discs

Inside the body, above the middle, draw 2 big circles side by side. Let them meet in the middle.

Tip Keep the circles inside the body.

  3. Step 3: Big sparkly eyes

In each circle draw a big oval. Colour it black, leaving a big and a small white shine.

  4. Step 4: Beak and cheeks

Where the circles meet at the bottom, draw a tiny pointed beak. Add a small oval cheek under each eye.

  5. Step 5: Two ear tufts

On each top corner draw a soft feather tuft leaning out. Start and stop on the body.

Tip Rub out the body line inside each tuft.

  6. Step 6: Folded wings

On each side, start below the face. Draw a leaf wing down to a tip. Add 2 feather lines.

Tip Rub out the body line inside each wing.

  7. Step 7: Feathery tummy

Between the wings draw an egg tummy. Inside it draw 3 little U feathers, then 2 below.

  8. Step 8: Feet and ground

At the bottom draw 2 small feet with 3 round toes each. Draw a ground line under them.

  9. Step 9: Cream face

Colour the 2 face discs and the tummy cream, around the eyes, cheeks and beak.

  10. Step 10: Pink and orange

Colour the 2 cheeks pink. Colour the beak and both feet orange.

  11. Step 11: Tan owl

Colour the body and ear tufts tan, around the face, tummy and feet. Leave the wings white.

  12. Step 12: Brown wings

Colour the 2 wings brown and your kawaii owl is ready to hoot.
