How to Draw an Owl Face

9 steps · Medium · about 7 min

Draw an owl face in 9 easy steps, about 7 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: big round head.

Print

  1. Step 1: Big round head

Draw a big soft egg lying on its side, filling most of the page, with fat cheeks.

Tip No corners anywhere: round on top, wider at the cheeks.

  2. Step 2: Two ear tufts

On each top corner of the head, draw a fat feather tuft leaning out, with a soft round tip.

  3. Step 3: Two huge eyes

Across the middle, draw 2 huge circles, a thumb apart. In each, add a big black dot with 2 shines.

Tip Owl eyes are enormous, nearly a third of the head.

  4. Step 4: The beak

Between and below the eyes, draw a fat teardrop beak, point down.

Tip Keep the beak a finger clear of the eyes and chin.

  5. Step 5: Heart face

Start at the top left of the beak. Draw a big heart around both eyes, back down to the beak.

  6. Step 6: Chin feathers

Under the heart face, start below each eye and draw 2 little bumps over to the beak.

  7. Step 7: Forehead feathers

In the middle of the forehead, above the heart, draw a short row of 3 little bumps.

  8. Step 8: Yellow eyes and beak

Colour the eyes and beak yellow, leaving the black dots and white shines.

  9. Step 9: Tan face, brown head

Colour the heart face tan. Then colour the head and ear tufts brown around the heart face.
