How to Draw an Owl Flying
Draw an owl flying in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.
Step 1: The head
Near the top of your paper, draw a big round head, wider than tall, like an egg on its side.
Step 2: Two ear tufts
On each top corner of the head, draw a fat feather tuft leaning out. Round tips, not needles.
Step 3: Two huge eyes
Across the middle of the head, draw 2 huge circles a thumb apart. Add a black dot with a shine.
Tip Owl eyes are enormous, nearly a third of the head wide.
Step 4: The beak
Under the gap between the eyes, draw a fat teardrop beak pointing down. Keep it clear of the eyes.
Step 5: Heart face
Start at the top of the beak. Draw a big heart around both eyes and end back at the beak.
Step 6: The body
Start under the left cheek. Draw a big plump egg body down and round, and end under the right cheek.
Tip The body is narrower than the head and fattest near the bottom.
Step 7: Spread wings
Draw a wide wing from each side of the body, out to a point, with 4 round feather fingers underneath.
Step 8: Feathery tummy
Under the head, between the wings, draw 3 little U's in a row, then 2 more below in the gaps.
Step 9: A full moon
In the top-right corner, draw a round moon, a little smaller than an eye.
Step 10: Yellow and tan
Colour the eyes, beak and moon yellow. Colour the face around them and the body tan.
Step 11: Brown wings and head
Go over your lines. Colour the wings light brown, then the head and tufts brown around the face.

Your finished drawing
Follow the steps above and this is where you end up: an owl flying, drawn by you.
