How to Draw a Baby Hyena
Draw a baby hyena in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: big soft head.
Step 1: Big soft head
Near the top left draw a big soft head, wider than tall, with round cheeks.
Tip A cub has a very big head. Leave room on the right for the body.
Step 2: Big round ears
On each top corner of the head draw a big round ear. Draw a small oval inside each.
Tip Hyena ears are round like biscuits, never pointy.
Step 3: Big eyes
On the middle of the head, a little to the left, draw 2 big oval eyes with black dots.
Tip Leave a tiny white shine in each eye.
Step 4: Dark snout
Under the eyes draw an egg snout poking past the head. Add a black nose and a w smile.
Tip Rub out the head line inside the snout.
Step 5: Sloping back
Start on the head by the eye. Go over high shoulders, slope down, curl round the bottom and stop.
Tip High shoulders and a low bottom: that slope makes a hyena.
Step 6: Front leg
Draw a ground line. From under the chin draw a chest and leg down to a plump paw, then up.
Tip The leg gets thinner down to the wrist.
Step 7: Tummy and back leg
From the front leg draw the tummy. Then a round thigh down to a paw and up to the bottom.
Step 8: Far legs
Under the tummy draw 2 more legs peeking out, one beside each leg, with paws on the ground.
Step 9: Toes
On each big paw draw 2 short toe lines. Draw 1 on each small paw.
Step 10: Fluffy tail
On the bottom draw a short fat tail sticking out, with a soft round tip.
Step 11: Five spots
Draw 5 round spots on the body, spread out.
Tip Keep every spot inside the body lines and off the legs.
Step 12: Sandy head
Colour the head and ears sand yellow, around the snout and ear middles. Leave the eyes white.
Step 13: Sandy body
Colour the body and all 4 legs sand yellow, around the 5 spots.
Step 14: Brown parts
Colour the snout, ear middles, tail and 5 spots brown, around the black nose. Your cub is done!
