How to Draw a Chibi Hyena
Draw a chibi hyena in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: big soft head.
Step 1: Big soft head
On the left, draw a big soft egg for the head, wider than tall. Leave room on the right.
Tip A chibi head is nearly as big as the body.
Step 2: Big round ears
On top of the head draw 2 big round ears. Add a curve inside each one.
Tip Hyena ears are big and round, not pointy.
Step 3: Big shiny eyes
Above the middle of the head draw 2 tall oval eyes. Add a ring, a pupil and 2 shines.
Tip Keep both eyes a little to the left: the head is turned.
Step 4: Snout and grin
Low on the left draw a wide oval snout. Add a black nose and a wide open grin.
Tip Rub out the head line inside the snout.
Step 5: Sloping back
Start on the head. Curve over high shoulders, slope down, go round the bottom and stop.
Tip High shoulders and a low bottom: that slope makes a hyena.
Step 6: Chest and front leg
Draw a ground line. Start at the chin: draw chest and leg down to a paw. Stop at the elbow.
Tip The leg gets thinner down to the wrist, then the paw pokes forward.
Step 7: Tummy and back leg
Start at the elbow and draw the tummy. Curve a round thigh down to a paw. Stop at the bottom.
Tip The back leg bends just above the paw.
Step 8: Far legs
Under the tummy draw 2 far legs peeking out, one beside each leg, with paws on the ground.
Step 9: Toes
On each of the 2 big paws, draw 2 short toe lines. Start on the ground and stop just above.
Step 10: Short mane
Start behind the head. Draw 4 soft bumps along the neck and shoulders. Stop on the back.
Step 11: Bushy tail
On the bottom draw a short fat tail hanging down, with a round tip.
Step 12: Five spots
Draw 5 round spots on the body, spread out.
Tip Keep every spot inside the body lines, with gaps between them.
Step 13: Sandy coat
Colour the head, ears, body and legs sandy yellow, around the snout and spots. Leave the eyes white.
Step 14: Pink and brown
Colour the grin pink. Colour the snout, mane, tail, eye rings and 5 spots brown. Your chibi hyena is done!
