How to Draw a Flying Pigeon
Draw a flying pigeon in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: round head.
Step 1: Round head
Near the left draw a round head, a little wider than tall.
Tip Leave room on the left for the beak.
Step 2: Short beak
Start on the front of the head. Draw a short pointed beak. Add a small bump on top of it.
Tip The white bump is how you spot a pigeon.
Step 3: Round eye
Near the beak draw a big round eye. Colour a black dot inside it, leaving a tiny shine.
Step 4: Plump body
Start behind the head. Draw the back to the right, round a deep chest, and stop under the beak.
Tip The chest is the fattest part.
Step 5: Neck rings
Under the head draw 2 curved lines across the neck. Start on the chest and stop on the back.
Step 6: Fan tail
Start on the back end of the body. Draw a tail that gets wider. Add a line across it.
Step 7: Big wing
On the back draw a big wing pointing up and back, with 3 feather bumps along its back edge.
Tip The front edge is one smooth curve.
Step 8: Second wing
Start on the back, in front of the big wing. Draw a wing standing up. Stop at the big wing.
Tip It hides a little behind the big wing.
Step 9: Wing bars
Low on the big wing draw 2 stripes across it, each made of 2 lines from edge to edge.
Step 10: Light grey
Go over your lines. Colour the body, wings and tail light grey. Skip the 2 stripes and the tail tip.
Tip Leave the neck rings white for now.
Step 11: Orange and green
Colour the eye orange around the black dot. Colour the neck ring next to the head green.
Step 12: Purple ring
Colour the second neck ring purple. A pigeon's neck shines green and purple.
Step 13: Dark grey
Colour the head, the beak, the 2 wing stripes and the tail tip dark grey. Leave the beak bump white.
