How to Draw a Pigeon
Draw a pigeon in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.
Step 1: The head
Near the top left draw a big round head, a little wider than tall, with a tiny chin bump.
Tip Leave room on the right and below for the body and the branch.
Step 2: Short beak
Draw a short beak pointing left from the head, with a bump on top.
Step 3: One big eye
A finger behind the beak draw a big round eye, bigger than the beak is long. Black dot and shine.
Step 4: Plump body
From the back of the head curve down. Leave a gap, then round a fat belly up to the chin.
Tip Leave the gap low on the back, where the tail will grow out.
Step 5: Tail
From the gap's top draw a tail down and back to the belly. Add a line near its end.
Step 6: Folded wing
Start under the head. Draw a teardrop wing along the back line, ending in a point where the tail starts.
Step 7: Neck band and bars
Under the head draw a curve from the chest to the wing for a neck band. Add 2 wing bars.
Step 8: Front leg and toes
Start under the tummy. Draw a leg getting thinner, then 3 chubby toes, and back up to the tummy.
Tip Two toes point forward, one back, ready to grip the branch.
Step 9: Back leg and toes
A thumb behind the first leg draw another leg and toes the same way, from the tummy back to it.
Tip Leave a gap between the 2 feet. Both sit at the same height.
Step 10: The branch
Under the toes draw a branch, thick on the left and thinner to the right, with a little twig bump.
Step 11: Grey pigeon
Colour the wing pale grey and the head, body and tail grey.
Tip Leave the eye, its ring, the neck band and the tail tip white.
Step 12: Eye ring and branch
Colour the ring round the eye orange and the branch light brown.
Step 13: Teal and dark grey
Colour the neck band teal. Colour the beak, tail tip, legs and toes dark grey, leaving the beak bump white.
