How to Draw a Sun Bear
Draw a sun bear in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: big round head.
Step 1: Big round head
Near the top left draw a big round head with soft cheeks. Leave lots of room on the right.
Tip A big head makes it cute: as big as the body is deep.
Step 2: Eyes, muzzle and tongue
Draw 2 eyes, a round muzzle and a black nose. From the nose draw down to a smile and tongue.
Tip Sun bears have the longest tongue of any bear.
Step 3: Round ears
On each top corner of the head draw a round ear like a cookie, with a smaller curve inside.
Step 4: Bean body
Behind the head draw a bean body with a long back, a round bottom and a chest under the chin.
Tip No neck: the head sits right on the shoulders.
Step 5: Two legs
Draw a ground line. From the chest draw a front leg narrowing to a round paw, then a back leg.
Step 6: Far legs
From the belly draw a thin far leg peeking out behind each leg, down to a paw on the ground.
Step 7: Stubby tail
On the top corner of the bottom draw a short stubby tail like a little thumb.
Step 8: Chest crescent
Under the chin draw a wide U band on the chest, fat at the bottom, tips stopping at the muzzle.
Tip The yellow crescent is the sun that gives the bear its name.
Step 9: Crescent and tongue
Colour the chest crescent yellow and the tongue pink.
Step 10: Muzzle and ear insides
Colour the muzzle tan around the tongue, and the ear insides light grey.
Step 11: Colour it dark
Go over your lines. Colour the bear dark grey around the muzzle, crescent and ear insides. Leave the eyes white.
