How to Draw a Standing Otter
Draw a standing otter in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: wide head.
Step 1: Wide head
Near the top draw a big wide head, like a soft rounded box, a little flat on top.
Step 2: Ears and muzzle
Draw a small ear high on each side. Low on the face draw a wide oval and a black nose.
Step 3: Eyes and smile
Draw 2 big egg eyes above the oval. From the nose draw a short line down to a w smile.
Step 4: Whiskers
Start on each side of the oval. Draw 2 short whiskers out toward the cheek; stop before the edge.
Step 5: Body and legs
Start under the left cheek. Draw down to the ground, an upside-down U between the legs, and back up.
Tip A standing otter is tall: make the body longer than the head.
Step 6: Arms and paws
Under each cheek draw an arm down to an elbow, then in to a round paw. Add 2 finger lines.
Tip The two paws rest on the chest and almost touch.
Step 7: Tummy patch
Start under the chin. Draw a long egg down the tummy, behind the paws; stop above the legs.
Step 8: Webbed feet
At the bottom of each leg draw a wide flat foot pointing out. Add 2 toe lines on each.
Step 9: Thick tail
Start behind the right hip. Sweep a thick tail down and along the ground to a round tip.
Tip Fat at the body, thin at the tip. The tail helps the otter balance.
Step 10: The ground
Draw a straight ground line under the feet and tail, from the left side to the right.
Step 11: Cream muzzle and tummy
Colour the muzzle oval cream. Colour the tummy patch cream, around the paws.
Step 12: Brown fur
Colour all the fur brown, around the muzzle and the tummy patch. Leave the eyes white.
