How to Draw a Monkey Running
Draw a monkey running in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: round head.
Step 1: Round head
On the left draw a big round head. Push its bottom left out into a small round muzzle.
Tip Keep the muzzle small and soft.
Step 2: Heart face
Start on the left of the head. Draw 2 bumps over to the right, then curve down to the chin.
Tip The bump on the right is the bigger one.
Step 3: Two eyes
Under each bump draw an oval eye. Inside each, colour a black dot, leaving a white shine.
Tip The left eye is a little smaller, because the head is turned.
Step 4: Nose and smile
Draw a small black nose on the muzzle tip and a long smile under it. Add 1 oval cheek.
Tip The cheek goes under the right eye.
Step 5: One round ear
Behind the head, level with the eyes, draw 1 round ear. Add a small curve inside it.
Tip Only 1 ear shows from this side.
Step 6: Long body
Start behind the head. Draw a long back, a round bottom, and a tummy that stops under the chin.
Tip The body leans forward, into the run.
Step 7: Near arm
Draw an arm reaching forward from the shoulder, with a bent elbow and a hand. Rub out the line inside.
Tip The arm starts with a round shoulder on the body.
Step 8: Near leg
Draw a leg kicking back from the hip, with a bent knee and a foot. Rub out the line inside.
Tip The leg stretches out behind, off the ground.
Step 9: Far arm and leg
Behind the body draw another arm reaching forward under the chin, and another leg pushing off the ground.
Tip Each one starts behind the body.
Step 10: Curly tail
Start on top of the bottom. Draw a long tail streaming back and up, ending in a curl.
Tip Keep the tail thin all the way.
Step 11: Fingers and toes
On each hand and each foot draw 2 short lines for fingers and toes.
Tip Start each line at the tip.
Step 12: The ground
Under the lowest foot draw a straight ground line. The monkey is bounding along it!
Step 13: Pink and light brown
Colour the cheek pink. Colour the face and the inside of the ear light brown. Leave the eyes white.
Step 14: Brown fur
Colour the rest of the monkey brown: head, ear, body, arms, legs and tail.
