How to Draw a Monkey

Step 1: The head

Near the top of your paper draw a big round head, a little wider than tall, with full cheeks.

Tip Half the monkey is head. Leave room below and beside for the ears.

Step 2: Big round ears

On each side of the head draw a big round C ear sticking out. Draw a smaller C inside it.

Tip Each C starts and stops on the head line, like a cup handle.

Step 3: Heart face and eyes

Inside the head draw a big heart on its side, 2 bumps on top. Put a big eye in each.

Tip Black dot low in each eye, with a shine. The bottom is the mouth.

Step 4: Nose and smile

Colour 2 nostril dots under the eyes. Start under the left eye and draw a wide smile to the right.

Step 5: Egg body and tummy

Start on each cheek. Draw a C down for the body side, curling in at the bottom. Join them up.

Tip Join the ends with a round curve. Add an oval tummy in the middle.

Step 6: Two hanging arms

From under each cheek draw an arm down beside the body, thinner at the wrist, and back up.

Tip Rub out the body line inside each arm.

Step 7: Mitten hands

Under each wrist draw a round mitten hand, wider than the arm. Add 3 finger lines at the bottom.

Tip Rub out the arm lines inside each hand.

Step 8: Two feet

Start on the body's bottom line. Draw 2 legs down to bun feet on the ground, back to the body.

Tip Add 2 toe lines per foot. Rub out the body line inside the legs.

Step 9: Curly tail

From behind the right foot draw a tail along the ground and up into a curl, back to the foot.

Tip Thick at the foot, thin at the tip.

Step 10: Hair tuft

On top of the head draw 3 soft round hair bumps, from the head line back to the head line.

Tip Rub out the head line under the tuft.

Step 11: The ground

Draw a long ground line under the feet and the tail.

Step 12: Tan face and tummy

Colour the face, inner ears, tummy, hands and feet tan. Leave the eyes white.

Step 13: Colour the fur brown

Colour the head, ears, body, arms, tail and tuft brown, around the tan parts.
