How to Draw a Sleeping Lioness
Draw a sleeping lioness in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: resting head.
Step 1: Resting head
Start on the left side of your paper. Draw a big head like a soft, wide egg.
Tip The long body will go on the right.
Step 2: Two round ears
Draw a round ear on each top corner of the head. Add a small curve inside each one.
Tip The ear on the left is a little smaller.
Step 3: Sleeping eyes
Halfway down the head draw 2 curves shaped like the letter U. These are her closed eyes.
Tip The eye on the right is a little wider.
Step 4: Nose and mouth
Below the eyes draw a wide oval and a black nose. Start at the nose and stop in a smile.
Tip The oval sits a little to the left, so her face turns towards you.
Step 5: Long low back
Draw a ground line below the chin. From behind the right ear draw a long back, curving down to it.
Tip A lioness has no mane, so the back joins straight onto the head.
Step 6: Paws under chin
Along the ground under the chin draw a flat front leg with a round paw. Add a second paw beyond.
Tip Her chin rests on the legs. Add 2 toe lines on the near paw and 1 on the far paw.
Step 7: Round thigh
At the end of the back draw a big round thigh sitting on the ground.
Tip The top of the thigh is a little hill at the end of the back.
Step 8: Back feet
From under the thigh draw a foot lying flat, pointing left. Peek a second foot beyond it.
Tip Add 2 toe lines on the near foot and 1 on the far foot. Now she has 4 legs.
Step 9: Tail and tuft
Behind the thigh draw a thin tail that curls up from the ground. Put an egg-shaped tuft on its tip.
Tip The tail is thickest where it leaves the body.
Step 10: Cream muzzle, peach ears
Colour the muzzle cream. Colour the middle of each ear peach.
Step 11: Sandy fur
Colour the head, ears, body, legs and tail sandy yellow, around the muzzle and ear middles. Leave the tuft white.
Step 12: Brown tuft
Colour the tail tuft dark brown. Your sleeping lioness is done!
