How to Draw a Sitting Duck
Draw a sitting duck in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: round head.
Step 1: Round head
Near the top left, draw a round head like an egg lying on its side.
Tip Leave room on the left for the bill and on the right for the body.
Step 2: Flat bill
On the left of the head, draw a flat bill out to a round tip and back. Add a smile.
Tip Keep the bill flat and wide, like a spoon.
Step 3: One big eye
On the head, above the bill, draw 1 big round eye. Add a black dot with a tiny white shine.
Step 4: Low round body
Start under the bill. Draw a round chest, a long flat bottom and a round back up to the head.
Tip The body is low and wide, like a loaf of bread.
Step 5: Tipped-up tail
On the back end of the body, draw a short pointed tail tipping up.
Step 6: Folded wing
On the side of the body, draw a long leaf shape for the folded wing, pointing at the tail.
Step 7: Feather lines
Start on the bottom edge of the wing. Draw 3 short curved lines up into the wing.
Step 8: Two feet
Draw a ground line. Under the chest, draw 2 webbed feet peeking out. Add 2 short toe lines on each.
Tip The rest of each foot is tucked under the body.
Step 9: Sandy wing, pink cheek
Leave the head, body, tail and eye white. Colour the wing sand and a pink cheek under the eye.
Step 10: Orange bill and feet
Colour the bill and the 2 feet orange. Your sitting duck is done!
