How to Draw a Duck
Draw a duck in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.
Step 1: The head
Near the top of your paper draw a big egg, wider at the bottom. It is almost half the duck.
Tip Leave room underneath for the body and feet.
Step 2: Short wide bill
Low on the face, start left and draw a flat rounded bean across to the right. Add a smile line.
Tip Short and wide like a spoon, not a pointy beak.
Step 3: Two big eyes
Above the bill draw 2 big eggy eyes with a gap between them. Colour a big black dot in each.
Step 4: Three hairs
On top of the head draw 3 short hairs sticking up. Start on the head and end in the air.
Step 5: The body
Start at the left cheek. Draw a big fat egg hanging under the head and stop at the right cheek.
Step 6: Two tucked wings
On each side, start under the cheek and draw a fat leaf wing inside the body, back to the start.
Tip The wings hug the body, not out like arms.
Step 7: A perky tail
Low on the right, start on the body and draw a pointed tail up and out, back to the body.
Tip Rub out the body line inside the tail.
Step 8: Two feet
Under the body draw 2 wide feet with 3 round toes each, touching the bottom of the body.
Step 9: The puddle
Around the feet draw a wide flat puddle, a bit wider than the duck.
Tip Its back edge hides behind the feet and the body.
Step 10: White duck
Leave the head, eyes, body and tail white. Colour the wings sand, pressing softly.
Step 11: Orange bill and feet
Colour the bill and both feet orange. Add 2 rosy pink cheeks beside the bill.
Step 12: Blue puddle
Colour the puddle blue, around the feet.
