How to Draw a Zoo
Draw a zoo in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: two pillars.
Step 1: Two pillars
Near the bottom of your paper draw 2 tall thin rectangles, one left, one right, a wide gap between.
Tip Same height and width, with room between for the gate.
Step 2: Caps and balls
On top of each pillar draw a flat cap sticking out both sides. Draw a ball sitting on each cap.
Step 3: Sign board
Start on the left cap. Curve up and over in a big rainbow, down to the right cap.
Step 4: Write ZOO
Write ZOO big in the middle of the sign, a Z and then 2 tall ovals.
Tip Make the letters big and the same height.
Step 5: Paw prints
High on each pillar draw a paw print, one round pad with 4 small toes above it.
Step 6: Gate top
Start a third of the way down the left pillar. Draw a low rainbow, stopping on the right pillar.
Step 7: The bars
From the gate top draw 5 straight bars down to the pillar bottoms, one in the middle, 2 each side.
Step 8: One rail
Start on the left pillar, just below the middle. Draw 1 straight line across the bars to the right pillar.
Step 9: The ground
Start at the left edge. Draw one straight ground line along the pillar bottoms to the right edge.
Step 10: Two bushes
Leave a gap outside each pillar and draw a small bumpy bush, starting and ending on the ground.
Step 11: Yellow sign and paws
Go over your lines, then colour the sign, the 2 balls and the paw prints yellow, leaving the letters black.
Step 12: Stone pillars
Colour the pillars stone, going around the yellow paw prints.
Step 13: Green bushes, grey caps
Colour the bushes leaf green and the caps slate grey. Welcome to the zoo!
