How to Draw a Zoo Entrance
Draw a zoo entrance in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: 2 pillars.
Step 1: 2 pillars
On each side of your paper draw a tall box pillar on the ground, with a flat cap on top.
Step 2: The arch
Start on the left cap. Curve up and over to the right cap, then come back underneath to the left cap.
Tip Zoo gates are big arches with ZOO and animal shapes on them.
Step 3: ZOO
In the middle of the arch write ZOO in big capitals: a Z of 3 straight lines, then 2 tall ovals.
Step 4: Elephant
On the left pillar draw an elephant: a round head, 2 big ears, a curling trunk and 2 dot eyes.
Step 5: Giraffe
On the right pillar draw a giraffe: a tall neck from the ground, a long head, 2 ears and 2 horns.
Tip Dot 2 eyes and put a round knob on top of each horn.
Step 6: The ticket window
Low on the left pillar draw a small square window for tickets.
Step 7: Ground and path
Draw a ground line under both pillars. Start on it, draw a wide path down and stop back on it.
Tip The path comes back up to the right pillar, wider at the bottom.
Step 8: Trees inside
Through the arch draw 2 round bumpy trees standing on the ground line, one each side of the path.
Step 9: The sun
Draw a sun with short rays in the top right corner.
Step 10: Yellow and brown
Colour the giraffe and the sun yellow. With brown, colour the tree trunks and 3 spots down the giraffe's neck.
Step 11: Grey elephant
Colour the elephant grey and the ticket window blue.
Step 12: Stone pillars, red arch
Colour the pillars and caps stone grey, around the animals and the window. Colour the arch red.
Step 13: Path and trees
Colour the path sandy and the tree tops green. Your zoo entrance is done!
