How to Draw a Yurt
Draw a yurt in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the round walls.
Step 1: The round walls
Start on the left, below the middle. Draw a wide U with a curved bottom. Stop level with the start.
Tip Leave the top open for the roof.
Step 2: The low roof
On top of the walls draw a wide, low pointy roof like a flat cone. It pokes past the walls.
Step 3: The crown
On the very top draw a little cup shape with a rounded top for the crown.
Step 4: Roof ribs
Draw 4 lines down the roof, from under the crown to just above the bottom edge, spread like a fan.
Step 5: The door
Start and stop on the bottom line. Draw a rounded door, a bigger arch round it and a knob.
Tip Leave a thin gap between the door and its arch.
Step 6: Two bands
Draw 2 gently curving lines across the walls, 1 high and 1 low, edge to edge. Skip the door.
Step 7: Criss-cross
Between the bands, on each side of the door, draw 3 lines slanting one way and 3 the other way.
Step 8: The ground
Draw the ground line from each bottom corner out to the edge of the paper, with a few grass blades.
Step 9: The sun
Near the top right, draw a small round sun with 8 short rays.
Step 10: A cloud
Draw a puffy cloud in the top left: a row of bumps on top and 2 flatter bumps underneath.
Step 11: Cream walls, yellow sun
Colour the walls cream, going round the door, and the sun yellow.
Step 12: Tan roof, red door
Colour the roof and crown tan and the door red. Go over your lines and your yurt is done!
