How to Draw the Sydney Opera House
Draw the Sydney Opera House in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the platform.
Step 1: The platform
A little below the middle, draw a long low flat box, a bit wider at the bottom than the top.
Step 2: Platform steps
Draw 2 long lines across the platform, evenly spaced, for the big steps.
Step 3: The biggest sail
Start on the middle of the platform. Swoop up to a sharp point, then curve back down to the platform.
Step 4: The left sail
Behind the big sail on the left, draw a second sail the same way, a little lower.
Tip Rub out any lines inside the big sail.
Step 5: The right sails
On the right, draw 2 more sails, each smaller and lower than the last, like a row of shells.
Step 6: Sail ribs
Inside the 3 bigger sails, draw one line from the platform up towards each point.
Step 7: The water
Draw the water line from the platform's bottom corners to the paper's edges, and a long wave lower down.
Step 8: The sailboat
On the long wave, draw a little flat boat with a triangle sail.
Step 9: Sun and cloud
Top right, draw a round sun with 8 short rays. Top left, add a little puffy cloud.
Step 10: White sails
Colour the 4 big sails and the boat's little sail white, pressing softly so the lines show.
Step 11: Sand platform, yellow sun
Colour the platform sand and the sun yellow.
Step 12: Blue water, wooden boat
Colour the water blue around the boat and the boat wood brown. Go over your lines, and you're done!
