How to Draw a Yield Sign
Draw a yield sign in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: a big upside-down triangle.
Step 1: A big upside-down triangle
Near the top draw a long flat line. Slant a line down from each end to meet at a point.
Tip A yield sign is a triangle standing on its tip.
Step 2: The inside triangle
Inside it draw a smaller upside-down triangle, a finger in on every side, leaving a thick band round the edge.
Step 3: Y and I
Near the top of the inside triangle write a Y, then an I beside it. Make them tall.
Step 4: The E
Next to the I draw an E: an upright line with 3 short flat lines pointing right.
Step 5: L and D
Then draw an L and a D with a big round belly. Keep all 5 letters the same height.
Step 6: The pole
From the point of the triangle draw 2 close lines straight down, stopping low on the page.
Step 7: The base
Start low left of the pole. Draw a small flat box up, across and down, stopping level with the start.
Step 8: Ground and grass
Draw a ground line from edge to edge under the base. Add a grass tuft of 3 blades each side.
Step 9: Cloud and bird
Right of the sign draw a puffy cloud with 3 bumps. On the left draw a wide curvy v bird.
Step 10: Red band, white middle
Go over your lines. Colour the thick band red and leave the inside triangle white so the letters stand out.
Step 11: Slate pole, white cloud
Colour the cloud white, then colour the pole and its base slate grey.
