How to Draw an Email Icon

11 steps · Medium · about 8 min

Draw an email icon in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the envelope.

Print

  1. Step 1: The envelope

In the middle of your paper draw a big wide box with square corners, wider than it is tall.

Tip Make it big: the envelope is the whole drawing.

  2. Step 2: Two big eyes

High on the box draw 2 big egg eyes. Colour a big black dot in each, leaving a white shine.

  3. Step 3: Smile and cheeks

Under the eyes draw a U smile, with a small flat cheek beside each end.

  4. Step 4: The flap

Start at the top-left corner. Slant down to a point under the smile, then back up to the top-right corner.

  5. Step 5: Folds

From each bottom corner draw a light slanted line up toward the middle, stopping where it meets the V.

  6. Step 6: A heart

Under the point of the V draw a small heart.

  7. Step 7: Sparkles

Draw 4 little sparkles in the air around the envelope.

  8. Step 8: Table line

Draw a table line under the envelope, starting a little past the left side and stopping past the right.

  9. Step 9: Sky envelope

Go over your lines, then colour the envelope sky blue, around the V flap and the heart.

  10. Step 10: Pink cheeks

Leave the flap and the eyes white, and colour the cheeks pink.

  11. Step 11: Red heart

Colour the heart red. You have got mail!
