How to Draw a Telescope
Draw a telescope in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: big tube.
Step 1: Big tube
In the middle of your paper draw a long fat tube tilted up to the right, like a log.
Tip Tilt everything the same way, up to the right.
Step 2: Smaller tubes
From the bottom left end draw a shorter thinner tube sliding out, and a smaller one sliding out of that.
Step 3: The rings
Draw a ring round the big tube where the middle tube goes in, and another round the far end.
Step 4: Lens and eyecup
In the far end draw a slim oval for the glass lens. On the near end draw a little band.
Step 5: The stand
Draw a band round the big tube. Under it draw a short thick post straight down to a round knob.
Step 6: Three legs
From the knob draw 3 thick legs spreading down to flat feet. Join the side legs with a bar.
Step 7: Ground, stars and moon
Draw a ground line under the feet. Add 3 sparkle stars and, on the right, a crescent moon.
Step 8: Sky lens, yellow stars
Colour the lens sky blue and the stars and moon yellow.
Step 9: Grey rings and legs
Colour the rings, eyecup, band, post, knob, legs and feet grey.
Step 10: Brown tubes
Colour all 3 tubes wood brown, around the grey rings. Go over your lines and your telescope is done!

Your finished drawing
Follow the steps above and this is where you end up: a telescope, drawn by you.
