How to Draw a Backpack
Draw a backpack in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the bag.
Step 1: The bag
Start at the top middle. Draw a bag, wider at the bottom with a flat base. Stop at the top.
Tip Leave a thumb of room all round for the handle and straps.
Step 2: Handle
On top of the bag draw 2 tiny tabs. Join them with a rainbow handle.
Step 3: 2 big eyes
Above the middle draw 2 big eggy eyes, a thumb apart. Add a black dot and white shine in each.
Step 4: Smile and cheeks
Start under the left eye. Draw a big U smile and stop under the right eye. Add 2 oval cheeks.
Step 5: Straps
From each shoulder, draw a thin C strap bulging out. Stop where it meets the side, by the cheek.
Step 6: The zip
Start at the left edge near the top. Draw a gentle smile and stop at the right edge.
Step 7: Zip slider
Near the right end of the zip draw a little pill on the line. Hang a teardrop pull under it.
Step 8: Front pocket
A finger under the smile draw a puffy pocket, half as wide as the bag. Keep it above the base.
Step 9: Star
In the middle of the pocket draw one big 5-point star, almost as tall as the pocket.
Tip 5 points out, 5 dips in. Go slowly and make it big.
Step 10: Ground
Start far left and draw a line to the bag's corner. Start at the other corner and end far right.
Step 11: Yellow and pink
Colour the pocket, zip slider and pull yellow, going around the star. Colour the 2 cheeks pink.
Step 12: Red and blue
Colour the handle, tabs, straps and star red. Colour the bag blue around the pocket, zip and cheeks.
Tip Leave the eyes white.
