How to Draw a Yak
Draw a yak in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: big low head.
Step 1: Big low head
Draw a big rounded square head low on the left. Leave room on the right for a big hump.
Step 2: Eyes and nose
Just above the head's middle, draw 2 big eyes with shines. Add an egg nose, 2 nostrils and a smile.
Step 3: Shaggy hair
Across the top of the head, draw a mop of round fluffy bumps, hanging a little past each side.
Step 4: Horns and ears
From each side of the hair, draw a long horn curving out, then up. Add a leaf ear below each.
Step 5: Big hump
Start behind the head. Draw a big hump, a sloping back and a round bottom. Stop low at the back.
Tip The hump is higher than the head.
Step 6: Long shaggy hair
From where that line stops, draw soft fur bumps along the bottom and up the chest to the head.
Tip The long hair hangs low, like a skirt.
Step 7: The ground
Draw a long flat ground line under the yak, a little below the hair.
Step 8: Two legs
Under the hair, draw a short front leg down to a hoof on the ground. Add a back leg.
Step 9: Far legs
Behind each leg, draw a thinner leg peeking out, down to a hoof on the ground.
Step 10: Bushy tail
Start at the top of the back end. Draw a thin tail hanging down to a big bushy tuft.
Step 11: Cream and sand
Colour the horns cream. Colour the nose and the ear insides sand.
Step 12: Colour it brown
Colour the head, hair, ears, body, legs and tail brown, around the pale parts. Leave the eyes white.
Step 13: Dark hooves
Colour the 4 hooves slate grey.
