How to Draw a Maine Coon
Draw a maine coon in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: fluffy head.
Step 1: Fluffy head
Near the top, draw a big sideways egg head with chubby cheeks and a soft chin.
Tip Give each cheek 2 little fur points. The head is over half the cat.
Step 2: Tufted ears
From each side of the head, draw a wide triangle ear up to a point and back to the head.
Tip Add a tiny fur tuft on each tip, and a smaller triangle inside.
Step 3: Two big eyes
Below the middle of the head, draw 2 big oval eyes, 1 eye apart, with black dots and a shine.
Step 4: Nose and W smile
Draw a small upside-down triangle nose under the eyes. From its point, swoop a W smile out to the eyes.
Tip Both smile curves start at the same spot, making a W.
Step 5: Fluffy ruff
Start under one cheek. Draw a big bib of soft fur bumps round under the chin to the other cheek.
Tip A maine coon wears a fluffy collar, a bit like a lion.
Step 6: Plump body
Start at each side of the ruff. Draw a big C down and round to meet in the middle.
Step 7: Front legs
Start under the ruff. Draw 2 U legs, each down to a mitten paw. Add a paw curve and toes.
Tip Thin at the ankle, with a big round paw.
Step 8: Bushy tail
From the right of the body, near the ground, sweep a fat tail out and up to a round tip.
Tip Make the outside edge soft fur bumps and the inside edge smooth.
Step 9: Back paws and ground
Under each side, draw a small bun paw behind the front paw, with 2 toes. Rule a ground line underneath.
Step 10: Whiskers and stripes
Draw 3 whiskers from the fur points on each cheek, to reach past the head. Add 3 forehead stripes.
Step 11: Cream ruff, pink ears
Colour the ruff and all 4 paws cream. Colour inside each ear pink.
Step 12: Brown fur
Colour the head, ears, body, legs and tail brown, around the cream and pink. Leave the eyes white.
