How to Draw a Wooden Bridge
Draw a wooden bridge in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: arched deck.
Step 1: Arched deck
Start at the left, below the middle. Draw a long flat rainbow up and over, down to the right.
Step 2: Deck thickness
Start a little below the left end of the rainbow. Draw the same rainbow underneath, ending under the right end.
Step 3: Planks
Draw short lines down across the deck, evenly spaced from one end to the other.
Step 4: Five posts
On the deck draw 5 tall thin posts, evenly spaced from end to end. Give each a tiny pointed cap.
Step 5: Two rails
From the first post draw a rail across to the last post, following the curve. Add a lower rail.
Step 6: The banks
Start at each paper edge and draw a bank to the deck's end, then curve it down under the bridge.
Step 7: The stream
Draw the water's top line straight across the paper, through the foot of each bank. Add 2 wavy lines below.
Step 8: Reeds and sun
Draw 2 bent reeds where each bank meets the water. Add a small round sun with 8 rays, top right.
Step 9: A cloud
High on the left draw a puffy cloud: 4 bumps over the top and 2 shallow bumps underneath.
Step 10: Yellow sun
Colour the sun yellow and leave the cloud white.
Step 11: Green banks, blue water
Colour the banks green and the stream blue, right out to the edges of the paper.
Step 12: Wooden deck and posts
Colour the deck and the posts wood brown. Go over your lines and your wooden bridge is done!
