How to Draw a Wing
Draw a wing in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the top edge.
Step 1: The top edge
Start low on the left. Draw one long arch up and over to the right, stopping high on the right.
Tip The start is the shoulder. The end is where the wing bends.
Step 2: Three long feathers
From the end of the arch, draw 3 long round feathers fanning down and right, stopping after the third.
Tip Like fingers spread out wide, all pointing away from the shoulder.
Step 3: Three short feathers
Start in the last dip. Draw 3 shorter round feathers stepping back left, stopping under the shoulder.
Step 4: The shoulder
Join the last feather up to the start of the arch with one round curve bowing out left.
Tip Now the wing is one closed shape.
Step 5: Small feathers
Start on the arch by the shoulder. Draw 6 little bumps under it, stopping on it past the middle.
Step 6: Another row
Start at the bottom of the shoulder. Draw 6 bigger bumps up to the bend, one over each feather.
Step 7: Feather lines
From each dip draw a line up to the bumps. Add a middle line down the 3 longest feathers.
Tip The middle lines stop before the round ends.
Step 8: The sun
In the top left corner draw a small sun: a circle with 8 short rays.
Step 9: Sky-blue top
Go over your lines. Colour the wing sky blue down to the bigger bumps, and the sun yellow.
Step 10: Blue feathers
Colour the 6 feathers along the bottom a darker blue, up to the bigger bumps.

Follow the steps above and this is where you end up: a wing, drawn by you.
