How to Draw a Saber Tooth Cat

14 steps · Medium · about 11 min

Draw a saber tooth cat in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: wide head.

Print

  1. Step 1: Wide head

Near the top, draw a big wide head like a bean. Make the cheeks wider than the top.

Tip A sabre-tooth has a heavy head with big jowls.

  2. Step 2: Small ears

On each top corner of the head, draw a small rounded ear. Draw a smaller ear shape inside each one.

  3. Step 3: Big eyes

In the middle of the head, draw 2 big eggy eyes. Add a black pupil and a white shine.

  4. Step 4: Shaggy cheeks

Start on the side of the head, beside the eye. Draw 3 fluff bumps down, ending under the jaw.

  5. Step 5: Nose and mouth

Under the eyes, draw a peanut patch with a black triangle nose. From the nose, draw down into a w.

  6. Step 6: Long fangs

From the bottom of the nose patch, draw 2 long fangs. Each goes down to a point and back up.

Tip The long fangs are the whole idea, so make them big.

  7. Step 7: Ground and body

Rule a ground line. From under each cheek, draw down to the hips. Join the hips with a chest line.

  8. Step 8: Front legs

Start on the chest line. Draw a U leg down to a fat paw on the ground and back up.

  9. Step 9: Back legs and paws

Start where each body line stopped. Draw a big round C down to the front paw. Add a bun paw.

  10. Step 10: Toes

On each paw, draw 2 short curved toe lines that flick up from near the bottom.

  11. Step 11: Stubby tail

On the right back leg, draw a short fat tail. It starts and ends on the leg.

  12. Step 12: Whiskers

Start on each side of the nose patch. Flick 2 whiskers out across the cheek, stopping before the edge.

  13. Step 13: Cream and peach

Go over your lines. Colour the nose patch, the shaggy cheeks and the tummy cream. Colour inside the ears peach.

  14. Step 14: Colour the fur ginger

Colour the rest of the cat ginger, around the cream parts. Leave the fangs and the eyes white.
