How to Draw a Moray Eel
Draw a moray eel in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: boulder and hole.
Step 1: Boulder and hole
Start low on the left. Draw a wide round boulder, stopping on the right. Add a hole on its left.
Tip Morays hide in rocky holes and poke their heads out.
Step 2: Head and neck
Start on top of the hole. Draw a thick neck up, around a long head, back down to the hole.
Tip Rub out the rock and hole lines inside the neck.
Step 3: Big eye
High on the head, near the nose, draw a big round eye. Colour a black dot, leaving a shine.
Step 4: Open smile
Under the eye draw a long open smile shape, from near the nose to a curl up at the back.
Step 5: Frilly back fin
Start behind the head. Draw a frilly fin with 4 bumps down the neck, stopping above the hole.
Step 6: Spots
Down the middle of the neck draw 4 little round spots, each a bit smaller than the last.
Step 7: Sandy sea floor
Draw a wavy sand line from edge to edge, right along the bottom of the boulder.
Step 8: Bubbles
Above the boulder draw 3 round bubbles rising up, each smaller than the one below.
Step 9: Yellow spots, sandy floor
Colour the spots yellow and the sea floor under the sand line sandy.
Step 10: Pink mouth, grey boulder
Colour the mouth pink. Colour the boulder stone grey, around the eel and the hole.
Step 11: Leaf green fin
Colour the frilly back fin leaf green.
Step 12: Green eel
Colour the head and neck green, around the spots, mouth and fin. Leave the eye white.
Step 13: Dark hole
Colour the hole dark slate, around the neck. Your moray eel is done!
