How to Draw a Window
Draw a window in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the window frame.
Step 1: The window frame
Draw a big tall box for the window frame, filling most of your paper.
Tip Make it a little taller than it is wide.
Step 2: The glass
Just inside the frame draw a second box, a finger in from every side, for the glass.
Step 3: Upright bar
Draw a thin bar straight down the middle of the glass, from the top to the bottom.
Step 4: Cross bar
Draw a thin bar across the middle of the glass, from side to side, making 4 panes.
Step 5: The sill
Under the window draw a long flat box for the sill, poking out a little on both sides.
Step 6: Board under the sill
Under the sill draw a shorter flat box, as wide as the window frame.
Step 7: Top ledge
On top of the frame draw a thin flat box for the ledge, poking out a little on both sides.
Step 8: Shiny glass
Draw 2 slanted shine lines in the top left pane, and 2 more in the bottom right pane.
Tip Make one line long and one short, side by side.
Step 9: Sky blue glass
Go over your lines. Colour the 4 panes of glass sky blue.
Step 10: Tan frame
Colour the frame and the 2 bars tan, around the blue glass.
Step 11: Brown sill and ledge
Colour the sill, the board under it and the top ledge brown. Your window is done!
