How to Draw a Window with Curtains
Draw a window with curtains in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the curtain rod.
Step 1: The curtain rod
Near the top draw a long line from left to right with a round knob on each end.
Step 2: The curtains
From the rod draw a curtain each side: sweep out to a narrow waist, then down to a wavy hem.
Tip Leave a gap between the curtains at the top, and a big space between them lower down.
Step 3: Tiebacks
At each waist draw a small rounded band across the curtain, a bit wider than the waist.
Step 4: Window frame
From the rod draw a tall box between the curtains. Its top corners hide behind them.
Step 5: The glass
Inside the frame draw a second box, a little smaller, so the frame looks thick.
Step 6: Four panes
Draw a line down the middle of the glass and a line across it, to make 4 panes.
Step 7: The sill
Under the frame draw a long flat bar with round ends, a bit wider than the window.
Step 8: Curtain folds
On each curtain draw 2 fold lines from the rod to the tieback, and 1 below it.
Step 9: The view outside
In the glass draw a round sun up high and a low hill line from side to side.
Step 10: Sunny yellow
Colour the sun, the 2 tiebacks and the 2 rod knobs yellow.
Step 11: Sky and hill
Colour the sky light blue, around the sun. Colour the hill green.
Step 12: Wooden frame
Colour the window frame and the sill wood brown.
Step 13: Purple curtains
Colour both curtains purple, around the yellow tiebacks. Your window is done!
