How to Draw a Gingerbread House

13 steps · Medium · about 10 min

Draw a gingerbread house in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the droopy roof.

Print

  1. Step 1: The droopy roof

Start at a round point near the top. Slope down to a thick brim, across, and back up.

Tip Thick and droopy, like a big straw hat. About half the house.

  2. Step 2: The walls

Start under the brim near the left end. Draw a plump wall down, across, and back up to the brim.

  3. Step 3: The door

Halfway along the bottom line, go up, over a rainbow top, and down. Add a heart and a knob.

  4. Step 4: Step and ground

Start left of the door. Draw a step down, across, and up to the line. Add ground lines each side.

  5. Step 5: Two windows

On each side of the door draw a big square window, a little wobbly, with a plus sign inside.

  6. Step 6: Gumdrops on the roof

On the roof draw 5 round gumdrops: one near the top, 2 a little lower, and 2 near the edges.

Tip Each a little bigger than the door knob.

  7. Step 7: Chimney and smoke

From the left roof slope go up, over a wide flat cap, and down. Add 3 round smoke puffs above.

  8. Step 8: Icing on the roof

Just above the brim draw a row of little hill bumps across the roof, from end to end.

Tip The brim looks like dripping white icing.

  9. Step 9: Lollipops

From the ground at each side draw 2 sticks up to a swirly candy, one tall and one short.

  10. Step 10: The garden path

From each bottom corner of the step draw a short line down and out. Add a line across them.

  11. Step 11: Blue windows, pink heart

Colour the windows sky blue and the heart pink.

  12. Step 12: Red door and candies

Colour the door red around the heart. Colour the gumdrops and lollipop candies red.

  13. Step 13: Gingerbread roof and walls

Colour the roof and walls gingerbread brown, around the gumdrops, windows and door. Colour the chimney dark brown.

Tip Leave the icing white. Go over your lines and your gingerbread house is done!
