How to Draw a Chimney
Draw a chimney in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the chimney stack.
Step 1: The chimney stack
Above the middle of your paper draw a tall box. Make its bottom slant down to the left.
Step 2: The cap
On top of the stack draw a flat cap with rounded ends, a little wider than the stack.
Step 3: A happy face
Near the top of the stack draw 2 big egg eyes with black dots and a small U smile.
Step 4: The roof
From the left, draw a thick roof band sloping up to the right, across the bottom of the stack.
Step 5: The wall
Under the roof draw a line down each side, a little in from the ends. Add a ground line.
Tip The roof sticks out past the wall.
Step 6: Mortar lines
Below the smile draw 3 lines across the stack, from the left side to the right side.
Step 7: Bricks
Below each line draw short up-and-down lines, 2 in one row and 1 in the next, like real bricks.
Step 8: Smoke puffs
Above the cap draw a big bumpy smoke puff. Add 2 smaller puffs drifting up to the right.
Tip Smoke puffs are bumpy clouds, not plain circles.
Step 9: Cream wall, grey smoke
Go over your lines, then colour the wall cream, and the cap and smoke puffs grey.
Step 10: Red bricks
Colour the chimney stack brick red, going around the eyes. Leave the eyes white.
Step 11: Slate roof
Colour the roof band slate. Your chimney is done!

Your finished drawing
Follow the steps above and this is where you end up: a chimney, drawn by you.
