How to Draw a Whistle
Draw a whistle in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the barrel.
Step 1: The barrel
Left of the middle draw 1 big round barrel as big as a plum, a bit flat at the bottom.
Tip Leave room on the right for the mouthpiece.
Step 2: Two big eyes
Above the middle of the barrel draw 2 big egg eyes, not touching. Add a big black dot in each.
Step 3: Smile and cheeks
Under the eyes draw a U smile, and a small flat cheek at each end.
Step 4: The mouthpiece
Start on top of the barrel. Draw a flat mouthpiece out to the right, and back to the barrel.
Tip Keep the top edge straight, running on from the top of the barrel.
Step 5: The slot
On the mouthpiece near the barrel draw a small flat box for the air slot.
Step 6: Ring and cord
On the barrel's top left draw a ring with a hole. Hang a long loop of cord from it.
Step 7: Toot lines
In front of the mouthpiece draw 3 short lines fanning out to the right for the toot.
Step 8: Music notes
Draw a music note in the air above each end of the whistle.
Step 9: The table
Start left of the cord. Draw a straight table line under the whistle, stopping past the toot lines.
Step 10: Pink cheeks
Go over your lines, then colour the cheeks pink.
Step 11: Silver whistle
Colour the barrel, mouthpiece and ring silver grey, going around the cheeks and slot. Leave the eyes white.
Step 12: Black slot and notes
Colour the slot and the note heads black. Your whistle is ready to toot!
