How to Draw a Wheelbarrow Race
Draw a wheelbarrow race in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: first head.
Step 1: First head
Low down on the right of your paper draw an egg head.
Tip Leave lots of room on the left and above for the second child.
Step 2: Face and hair
On the right half of the head draw 2 dot eyes and a big grin. Add hair on top.
Tip Rub out the head line inside the hair.
Step 3: Sloping body
Behind the head draw a long bean body that slopes up to the left.
Tip The body stays straight like a plank, not sagging in the middle.
Step 4: Straight legs
Carry on up the slope with trousers. Draw a long leg that gets thinner, the other leg peeking above it.
Step 5: Hanging shoe
On the end of the long leg draw a round shoe hanging down, its toe pointing at the ground.
Tip The other shoe is hidden behind this one.
Step 6: Arms on the ground
From the shoulder draw 2 arms straight down to flat mitten hands. Add 2 sleeve lines from edge to edge.
Tip Rub out the body line inside the front arm.
Step 7: Ground and cone
Draw a ground line under the hands, from the left edge to the right. Stand a cone on the right.
Step 8: Second head
High on the left draw another egg head with 2 dot eyes, a grin, hair and a ponytail.
Step 9: Body and shorts
Under this head draw a short neck, a bean body leaning forward and wide shorts.
Step 10: Walking legs
Draw one leg stepping forward and one stretching back. Add a flat shoe and a shoe up on its toe.
Tip Both shoes touch the ground line.
Step 11: Holding the ankles
From the shoulder draw 2 bent arms to hands holding the ankles. Add a sleeve line from edge to edge.
Tip Rub out the lines inside the front arm and its hand.
Step 12: Peach skin, yellow top
Colour the faces, neck, arms and bare legs peach. Leave the grins white. Colour the standing child's top yellow.
Step 13: Orange cone, red top
Colour the cone orange. Colour the other top, its 2 sleeves and all 3 shoes red.
Step 14: Blue and brown
Colour the trousers and the shorts blue and all the hair brown. Your wheelbarrow race is done!
