How to Draw a Weather Balloon
Draw a weather balloon in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: big round balloon.
Step 1: Big round balloon
In the upper half, draw 1 huge circle, much bigger than your hand.
Tip A weather balloon is a round ball, not a teardrop.
Step 2: Two big eyes
A little below the middle, draw 2 big round eyes with a black dot and a white shine in each.
Step 3: Smile, cheeks and shine
Under the eyes, draw a U smile and 2 oval cheeks. Add a curved shine line high on the left.
Step 4: The neck
Start on the circle, left of the bottom. Draw a little knot hanging down and stop back on the circle.
Step 5: Long string
Start on the knot. Draw 1 long straight line down, a hand long, and stop in the air.
Step 6: Little box
At the string's end, draw a small box. Add a line across and an antenna with a dot on top.
Tip The box is tiny: it only holds the little weather sensors.
Step 7: Clouds
Draw a puffy cloud on each side of the string: 3 round bumps on a flat base.
Step 8: Three twinkles
Draw 3 little twinkles in the sky: 1 high left, 1 high right and 1 low right.
Step 9: White balloon, pink cheeks
Go over your lines. Leave the balloon and eyes white, and colour the 2 cheeks pink.
Step 10: Sky and twinkles
Colour the twinkles yellow. Colour the sky light blue around the balloon, box and clouds.
Step 11: Tan box, grey knot
Colour the box tan, leaving the line showing. Colour the neck and knot grey. Your weather balloon is done!
