How to Draw a Helicopter
Draw a helicopter in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: body and window.
Step 1: Body and window
Draw a big sideways egg for the body. Start on the roof, curve a C window down to the nose.
Tip Fat end on the right.
Step 2: Top blades
From the roof draw 2 short lines up to a small circle. Draw a long flat blade out each side.
Step 3: Two big eyes
Inside the glass draw 2 big round eyes, almost touching. Add a black dot and a white shine in each.
Tip Keep a little blue glass all around each eye.
Step 4: Smile
Start under the back eye and draw a big wide U smile. Stop under the front eye.
Step 5: Long tail
Start high on the back. Draw a long tail to the left, round the tip, and end lower down.
Tip Fat at the body and thin at the tip, like a carrot.
Step 6: Fin
Start on top of the tail near the tip. Draw a little hill up and back, stopping on the tip.
Step 7: Tail blades
Draw a small circle on the fin tip. From it, draw 2 blades in an X, ending at the circle.
Tip Keep these under the big blade, not touching it.
Step 8: Legs
From the tummy draw 2 thin legs going down and apart, like the letter A.
Step 9: Sled
Across the bottom of both legs, draw a long sled that curls up at each end.
Step 10: Clouds
Draw a cloud under the tail and one high on the right, each with a flat base and 3 bumps.
Step 11: Yellow body, red tail
Colour the body and the mast yellow, not the window. Colour the tail and the fin red.
Step 12: Grey metal
Colour the blades, both circles, the sled and the legs grey.
Step 13: Blue glass
Colour the window sky blue around the eyes. Leave the eyes white.
