How to Draw a Water Wheel
Draw a water wheel in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the mill house.
Step 1: The mill house
On the right of your paper draw a box for the mill house standing on the ground.
Step 2: The roof
On top draw a pointed roof poking out past both walls, with a thin edge under it.
Step 3: Door and window
On the house draw an arched door with a knob, and a square window with a cross to the left.
Step 4: The big wheel
Beside the house, on the left, draw a big circle, a smaller one inside, and a small hub.
Tip The wheel is taller than the house wall.
Step 5: Axle and spokes
From the hub draw a bar across to the house wall, and 5 even spokes out to the inner circle.
Step 6: The paddles
Between the 2 circles draw short lines all the way round, evenly spaced, for the paddles.
Step 7: The stream
Under the wheel draw 3 wavy lines to the house, then a line from its corner down to the bottom.
Step 8: The bank
Near the left edge, draw the bank across and down to the bottom. Add ground right of the house.
Step 9: A pine tree
On the bank near the left edge, draw a pine tree with 3 pointy layers and a short trunk.
Step 10: The sun
Draw a sun with short rays in the top right corner.
Step 11: Cream house, yellow sun
Colour the house and the triangle under the roof cream and the sun yellow, leaving the window white.
Step 12: Blue stream, wooden wheel
Colour the stream blue, then the wheel's rim, hub and axle wood brown.
Step 13: Brown roof, green pine
Colour the roof and the door brown and the pine tree green. Your water wheel is done!
