How to Draw an Airport Terminal

14 steps · Medium · about 11 min

Draw an airport terminal in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the long building.

Print

  1. Step 1: The long building

Low on the left, draw a long box, twice as wide as tall, sitting on the ground.

Tip Leave room on the right for the plane and above for the tower.

  2. Step 2: Curved roof

From the box's top-right corner, draw a rainbow roof poking past both ends, back to the top-left corner.

  3. Step 3: The tower

Start on the roof's left side. Draw 2 lines straight up, and stop at a wide flat slab on top.

  4. Step 4: Glass cab

Start on the slab. Draw a box that gets wider going up, stop on the slab. Add 2 slanted lines.

Tip The cab leans out so the controllers can look down at the planes.

  5. Step 5: Roof and mast

Draw a flat roof on the cab. From its middle, draw a mast up to a little ball.

  6. Step 6: Big windows

On each side of the building, draw a big window with round corners and a line down its middle.

  7. Step 7: Door and ground

Draw a tall double door between the windows. Start a ground line at the left edge, stop at the right.

  8. Step 8: The plane's body

Start high on the right wall. Draw the plane's body out to a pointed tail. Stop lower on the wall.

Tip The front of the plane hides behind the building, parked at its gate.

  9. Step 9: Tail fin

Start on top of the body. Draw a tall fin leaning back, and stop near the tail tip.

  10. Step 10: Windows and wheel

Draw 3 square windows along the body. Under it, draw a short leg and a wheel with a hub circle.

  11. Step 11: A cloud

High on the right, above the plane, draw a puffy cloud with a flat bottom.

  12. Step 12: Sky-blue glass

Colour the cab, the big windows, the door and the plane's windows sky blue.

  13. Step 13: Cream and grey

Colour the building cream, around its windows and door. Colour the tower and its slab grey.

  14. Step 14: Red and black

Colour both roofs, the ball and the fin red, and the tyre black. Leave the plane, hub and cloud white.
