How to Draw a Tiki Statue

13 steps · Medium · about 10 min

Draw a tiki statue in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the big log.

Print

  1. Step 1: The big log

Start low on the left. Draw a tall log, up, round over the top, and stop low on the right.

Tip Make it tall, with straight sides and a round top.

  2. Step 2: Heavy brow

A third of the way down, draw an arch from each edge. Stop both near the middle, leaving a gap.

Tip Round arches make a friendly face.

  3. Step 3: Wide nose

Start at one arch end. Draw a nose down, wide and round at the bottom, up to the other end.

  4. Step 4: Two round eyes

Under each arch draw a big round eye. Add a black dot and a white shine in each.

Tip Keep the eyes clear of the nose and the edge.

  5. Step 5: A big grin

Under the nose draw a wide smile: a dipping line on top and a deep U under it.

Tip Make it nearly as wide as the log.

  6. Step 6: Square teeth

Draw 1 line across the middle of the grin, then 4 short lines down, for teeth.

  7. Step 7: The head band

Above the brow draw 2 lines across the log. Start each on the left edge, stop on the right.

Tip Let each line dip a little in the middle, so the log looks round.

  8. Step 8: Zigzag pattern

Inside the band draw a zigzag from the left edge to the right edge, down and up 4 times.

  9. Step 9: Two arms

Start on each edge. Draw a fat arm curving down the tummy, round a hand and back to the edge.

Tip The 2 hands nearly touch in the middle.

  10. Step 10: Grassy mound

Draw a low hill from the left up to the log and down the right. Rule a ground line.

  11. Step 11: Yellow and green

Colour the zigzag band yellow and the grassy mound green.

  12. Step 12: Light brown wood

Colour the face and tummy light brown. Go around the eyes, teeth, nose and arms.

Tip Leave the eyes and the teeth white.

  13. Step 13: Dark brown carving

Colour the top, the brow, the nose and both arms dark brown. Go over your lines. Done!
