How to Draw a Globe Theatre
Draw a globe theatre in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the roof.
Step 1: The roof
Near the top of your paper draw a wide flat oval, like a plate seen from the side.
Tip Leave room above it for a flag.
Step 2: Thick thatch
Start at the oval's left end. Go down a little, curve along under the oval, stop at its right end.
Tip The roof is made of thick straw, called thatch.
Step 3: Round wall
Start under the roof on the left. Draw down, straight across the bottom, and up. Stop under the roof.
Tip Keep the 2 sides straight and the same length.
Step 4: The open middle
Inside the roof oval draw a smaller flat oval, a little above the middle. The theatre has no lid.
Step 5: Upright posts
Draw 6 thin posts from the roof down to the bottom edge, 3 each side of the middle.
Tip Put the posts closer together near the sides. That makes the wall look round.
Step 6: Floor beams
Draw 2 thin beams across the wall, sagging a little in the middle. Hop over each post.
Step 7: The door
Between the 2 middle posts draw a door with a round top. Add a line down its middle.
Tip The line makes it a pair of doors.
Step 8: Little windows
Between the 2 beams draw a row of 5 small windows, one in each gap between posts.
Step 9: Flag and ground
On the roof draw a pole with a pointed flag. Draw a ground line out from each bottom corner.
Tip A flag on top told people there was a play that day.
Step 10: Blue windows
Colour the 5 little windows light blue. Leave the walls between the beams white.
Step 11: Straw roof, red flag
Colour the roof ring and its thick edge sandy yellow, like straw. Colour the flag red.
Step 12: Brown beams and door
Colour the posts and the 2 long beams dark brown. Colour the door light brown.
Step 13: Dark middle
Colour the hole in the roof dark grey. Go over your lines and your Globe Theatre is done!
