How to Draw a Water Polo Ball
Draw a water polo ball in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the ball.
Step 1: The ball
Start low on the left. Draw a big circle over the top. Stop low on the right, leaving a gap.
Tip The gap at the bottom will sit down in the water.
Step 2: The water line
Start at the left edge. Draw 2 wave bumps, dip under the ball like a smile, then 2 more bumps.
Tip The dip closes the gap at the bottom of the ball.
Step 3: Two big eyes
Up and left of the middle draw 2 big round eyes, each with a black dot and a white shine.
Step 4: Smile and cheeks
Start under the left eye, draw one wide U smile, stop under the right eye. Add a cheek each side.
Step 5: Three seams
From a spot below the right cheek draw 3 curved lines: one up, one left, one down to the water.
Tip The 3 lines make a curvy Y, like a pinwheel.
Step 6: Face stripe
From the left edge draw 2 curves across to the up line: one above the eyes, one under the smile.
Step 7: Side stripes
On the right draw 2 curves beside the up line, from the top edge down to the water.
Step 8: Bottom stripes
At the bottom draw 2 short curves beside the down line, from the left line to the water.
Step 9: Ripples and drops
Draw a row of wave bumps lower down in the water. Add 3 splash drops in the air.
Step 10: Yellow ball
Go over your lines. Colour the whole ball bright yellow, going round the eyes and cheeks.
Tip Leave the eyes white.
Step 11: Pink cheeks, sky drops
Colour the cheeks pink and the 3 splash drops sky blue.
Step 12: Blue water
Colour the water blue from the wavy line down to the bottom of the paper. Splash!
Tip A water polo ball is bright yellow so players can see it in the pool.
