How to Draw a Diwali Lantern
Draw a Diwali lantern in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the big star.
Step 1: The big star
In the middle of your paper draw a big 5-point star, as big as your hand.
Step 2: Two big eyes
In the middle of the star draw 2 big round eyes close together, with a black dot in each.
Step 3: A big smile
Leave a little gap under the eyes and draw a U smile from under one eye to under the other.
Step 4: Rosy cheeks
A little way out from each end of the smile, draw 1 small sideways oval for a rosy cheek.
Step 5: The string
Above the top point draw a small loop, then a straight line from the loop down to the point.
Step 6: A star inside
Inside the big star draw a smaller 5-point star the same way, a finger in from every point.
Tip Keep the inner star clear of the eyes and the smile.
Step 7: Glow lines
Draw 4 short glow lines pointing out, 1 past each side point and 1 in each gap beside the top.
Step 8: Paper tails
Hang a paper tail from each bottom point and a longer one from the dip, each ending in a V.
Step 9: Yellow glow
Colour the inner star yellow so it glows, leaving the eyes and cheeks white.
Step 10: Pink cheeks
Colour the two cheeks rosy pink.
Step 11: Orange star, purple tails
Colour the big star orange around the yellow star, and the three tails purple. Your lantern is glowing!
