How to Draw a Watchtower
Draw a watchtower in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the platform.
Step 1: The platform
A little above the middle of your paper draw a long flat box, like a plank lying across.
Step 2: Two long legs
Start under the platform, in from each end. Draw a long leg slanting out; stop low, like a letter A.
Step 3: The lookout cabin
Start on the platform, in from the left. Draw up, across, and down to the platform. Add a wide window.
Step 4: The pointed roof
On top of the cabin draw a wide triangle roof that sticks out past the cabin on both sides.
Step 5: The railing
At each platform end draw 2 short posts. Start a rail on the cabin; stop on the outer post.
Step 6: The ladder
Down the middle draw a ladder: 2 lines from the platform down to where the legs stop, with 7 rungs.
Step 7: Cross braces
Draw 2 flat bars from each leg to the ladder. Add an X under each bar, stopping at the ladder.
Step 8: Flag and ground
From the roof's point draw a short pole up to a triangle flag. Draw the ground line under the legs.
Step 9: The sun
Draw a round sun with 8 short rays in the top right.
Step 10: A cloud
Draw a puffy cloud in the top left: a row of bumps on top and 2 flatter bumps underneath.
Step 11: Yellow sun, sky window
Colour the sun yellow and the window sky blue.
Step 12: Wooden cabin
Colour the cabin and the platform wood brown, going around the window.
Step 13: Brown roof, red flag
Colour the roof brown and the flag red. Go over your lines and your watchtower is done!
