How to Draw the Brandenburg Gate
Draw the Brandenburg Gate in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the platform.
Step 1: The platform
Low on your paper draw a long flat box right across for the stone platform.
Step 2: Six columns
On the platform draw 6 tall thin boxes standing in a row, with a clear gap between each.
Tip It's a row of 6 tall columns with a chariot on top.
Step 3: Column caps
On top of each column draw a thin flat cap box, a little wider than the column.
Step 4: Beam and top block
Across all 6 caps draw a long flat beam with a line along it. Add a shorter box on top.
Step 5: The chariot
On the top block, right of middle, draw a low box with a curved front and a 4-spoke wheel.
Step 6: The figure
Standing in the chariot draw a small figure: a long robe, a round head and an arm reaching forward.
Step 7: Two horses
Draw 2 horses standing in front of the chariot, one peeking ahead, with pointed ears and dot eyes.
Step 8: The ground
Draw the ground line across the bottom of the page.
Step 9: The sun
Draw a sun with short rays in the top right corner.
Step 10: Sandy stone, yellow sun
Colour the platform, columns, beam and top block sandy, and the sun yellow, pressing softly.
Step 11: Stone caps
Colour the column caps stone grey.
Step 12: Green bronze
Colour the chariot, figure and horses green like old bronze. Go over your lines. Done!
